Technology Refresh at Joint Multinational Readiness Center

Brice Builders and subcontractor and partner Raytheon Intelligence and Space of Orlando, FL, are performing the technology update of two telecommunications towers located at the US Army’s Joint Multinational Readiness Center (JMRC) in Hohenfels, Germany. JMRC is the only military training location that provides US soldiers combat training opportunities side-by-side with NATO Allies and partner-nation armies in an environment that incorporates non-English-speaking civilians occupying villages filled with homes and stores.

Our scope of work includes site survey of the tower locations to support the design and installation of the Observer Controller Communications System (OCCS) and Range Data Measurement System (RDMS) networks on the two existing towers.  The resulting A&E plan will include an approach for the integration of all communication systems onto the existing towers and shelters along with a complete schedule.

Brice/Raytheon will coordinate the work to ensure no disruption to the existing communications capabilities at the two sites until a switch-over is successfully executed. To avoid communications disruption, we have planned for additional rack space in the shelters, additional power needs and other contingencies.  Further, any existing antenna and line hardware on the two towers will be left in place until the switch-over is successfully commissioned and tested.

Two Rotational Tests will be conducted in addition to a functional test by the government.  Brice and Raytheon will support the running of the new JMRC capabilities during two rotations without technical failure.
